About
Cara D'Amico

Cara D’Amico is an Analytical Scientist in Early Phase Method Development and Characterization at Bristol Myers Squibb.

Cara began her analytical research career in Professor Richard Vachet’s group at the University of Massachusetts, where her work focused on developing HPLC-MS/MS separations to analyze labeled peptide isomers. This work was applied to covalent labeling methods for the study of protein dynamics and protein-protein interactions. She went on to pursue a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the University of Michigan, co-mentored by Professors Robert Kennedy and Brandon Ruotolo. Her graduate research was on assay miniaturization and automation using droplet microfluidics. This work advanced CE and MS-based methods for the high-throughput analysis of peptides and large biomolecules.

At BMS, Cara’s work centers around developing separation methods for the characterization of biologic therapeutics including monoclonal antibodies, fusion proteins, and AAVs, as well as the evaluation of new analytical technologies for applications in pre-clinical development. She is a subject matter expert in both iCIEF and IEX Chromatography and was awarded the CASSS CE Pharm Next Generation Investigator Award in 2022. Outside of the lab, Cara enjoys backpacking, photography, and knitting.
